Coronavirus and NSAIDS

There are reports in the French press that ibuprofen may increase risks with coronavirus.

Public Health England says there is no published evidence that ibuprofen increases the risk of catching COVID-19 or of getting worse complications.

There is no current data to refute the hypothesis either and the experts have been asked to review any data.

In the meantime:
You may choose to avoid anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen and naproxen to manage the symptoms of a suspected Coronavirus illness and stick to paracetamol for pain and fever where possible.

If you already take anti-inflammatories for longstanding musculoskeletal conditions, you can continue to take these if necessary.
If you are not currently experiencing a pain flare and are unwell with viral symptoms and fever, it may be better to try paracetamol first line
